Old Covenant: no means of entrance into the presence of God.

Sacrifices … proclaimed this. 

Cross of Calvary announced the perfect fulfilment of these sacrifices.

Hebrews 9:12–14 NKJV

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

An inheritance that comes through the execution of a covenant.

v19-23

Hebrews 9:19–21 is taken from Exodus 24:3–8

The book of the Law was sprinkled with blood, and so were the people and the tabernacle and its furnishings. 

Leviticus 17:11 NKJV

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’

But how could a heavenly sanctuary ever become defiled?

Physically, of course, we are on earth.
