Mark 2:10-12 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”He said to the paralytic, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”
In Mark 2, Jesus forgave a paralytic of his sins and the religious leaders immediately accused Jesus in their hearts. Jesus then healed the man as evidence of His power. To that, the people said, “We never saw anything like this!” The gospel of Matthew says they marveled; they were amazed and surprised! These people were in the presence of God and they missed it. They were so caught up in the physical miracle that they missed the real miracle – the forgiveness of sins.
Have you lost the awe and wonder of following Jesus? Many Christians have … walking around joyless like they’ve been baptized in vinegar. You, Christian, you are a miracle … a living, breathing miracle of God’s grace. God chose you, forgave you and healed you, not because of what you are able to do but because God is able and He’s willing. Don’t lose the joy, surprise and wonder of it all.
