Matthew 20:1 For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.
Jesus is teaching His disciples through a parable. In this parable, the landowner is a picture of God, Who goes out time after time seeking laborers for His vineyard. Our God is a Seeker.
Luke 19:10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
We see God seeking all the way back to the garden … calling out to Adam, “Where are you” – to sending Nathan to confront David over adultery and murder to God sending His only Son into the world …
… to someone who God sent to you with the good news of Jesus Christ.
I praise God that He is a seeker because there was a time when I ran as hard and far away from Him as I could. But He still pursued me. Maybe you feel the same way? Our God is a Seeker and He is still seeking today for faithful men and women to labor in the harvest.
John 4:35–38 Do you not say, There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
God has sought and He has found. You and me are workers in that harvest.
Pray everyday that you will recognize every opportunity that God gives you to talk to others about Jesus, just as someone sometime in the past recognized the moment and told you that the Owner of the vineyard was seeking laborers.
