Pastor Shawn

For those who knew me from during my teens, my twenties and early thirties, it may surprise you that I am now a disciple of Jesus Christ … and a pastor. I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and attended college at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi graduating with a degree in Anthropology. I’ve loved music my whole life and spent a giant portion of my life writing music and playing bass guitar in bands, the last of which was quite popular in the indie music scene. It was during this time that my life began to spiral out of control. Just in time, God brought me to an old friend, John, who played drums in two of my previous bands. He told me he was moving with his family to China to do missions work, which really made me wonder what had happened to the John I used to know. He gave me a small Bible, which, out of curiosity, I started to read. I got saved reading that Bible. The next thing I knew, the Lord had saved me from myself and I was attending a new church called Calvary Chapel of the Triad that Pastor David McGee had started in Kernersville, NC. Time after time as I faithfully poured out the Lord opened doors of ministry that I stepped through. Now, after five years as an assisting pastor at Calvary Chapel of the Triad in Kernersville, NC (www.reachthetriad.com) I am starting a new Calvary Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama. I have a beautiful wife, and two wonderful sons. God is faithful!
