Genesis 50:22-23 So Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he and his father’s household. And Joseph lived one hundred and ten years. Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. The children of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were also brought up on Joseph’s knees.
Joseph was a remarkable man who had a huge impact on the whole world and on his family … yet he gave all the glory to God where it belonged. You know, I’m reminded by our study of Joseph that we can make a difference. Look how much the obedience of one man affected everyone.
God can use you to change the world.
Some would tell you that one man cannot make a difference, but the Bible shows us otherwise. Over and over in the Bible we see how one man heeding the call of God, changed the world. If one man can change the world, what can three or four or even a whole church do?
Already Calvary Chapel Birmingham, though we are but a wee flock, have provided radios to off-the-beaten-path villages in India so they can listen to broadcast bible teachings. We’ve purchased lambs for impoverished families in India so they will be able to raise and sell wool to earn an income … and it provided local missionaries with the opportunity as they delivered the lambs to communicate the gospel of the Lamb of God. We are helping a young boy in India to have a Christian education. We help support several missionaries in asia. We are helping to teach and train native born pastors in Peru. We go door to door in our own community to tell people about Jesus. We help Jewish families as they relocate to Israel, providing the means to speak with them about Yeshua, Jesus. We study God’s Word together and learn how to live it in out daily lives. We place a great emphases on teaching the children at CCB about God. We are changing the world.
But we can do more.
So, in your devotion time this morning, please pray with me that God would open up even more avenues for ministry for CCB and that God would provide whatever it is we need to do that. Thank you to those who sow into this ministry because you are an integral part. When someone listens to a podcast and writes to me that they have a new understanding of God or that they have come back to God or that they have accepted Jesus for the first time … you are a part of that. When someone is challenged by a daily devotion and commits to press in to God, you share in that fruit. But there is more to do, so we cannot sit back and just fancy our fruit. Won’t you join with CCB as we reach the world with the gospel of Jesus? Will you partner with us in prayer? Will you partner with us financially? Will you partner with us by inviting others to church, or by sharing these devotions with others or pointing them to the podcast?
We all affect the world in some way. It’s not a matter of will we affect the world … it’s a matter of how will we affect the world. I want to reach the whole world with the whole Bible. I want to encourage Christians to dig in and pour out. I want to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth. Won’t you join with us on this incredible adventure of faith?
