Pastor Shawn was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended school in Birmingham until college, where he attended and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Anthropology/Archaeology.
Shawn loved music from an early age and spent many years playing music professionally, touring around the United States and recording music with some very talented musicians. It was while he was involved in music that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and repented of the musician’s life style he was involved in. Soon afterwards, he led his wife to the Lord and they started attending a new Calvary Chapel in Kernersville, North Carolina.
Pastor Shawn made a commitment to God that whenever the Lord opened a door, he would step through. It wasn’t long before the Lord started opening doors of ministry. Shawn began leading the media team, co-leading the worship team, serving as a deacon, then an elder and soon going on staff as the Assisting Pastor.
In 2010, Pastor Shawn, his wife, Christy, and two children, Nathaniel and Joshua answered the call to plant a Calvary Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama. Starting the church by leading Bible studies in his home, the fellowship soon outgrew the home and they moved into a small space in downtown Birmingham. A half year later, they relocated to a larger facility a few miles away in Homewood, Alabama, where they are today.
